GERMAN, AMERICAN AND MORE
Cockroach Control in Beaverton & the Portland Metro
Where you see one cockroach, there are more out of sight. We find where they are hiding, treat where they breed, and follow up so the next generation does not take over the kitchen.
WHY ONE MEANS MORE
Signs of a Hidden Colony
Cockroaches are nocturnal. They come out to feed while the house is asleep and spend the day packed into warm, damp spaces: behind appliances, inside cabinets, under sinks and in the gaps along baseboards.
So the one you see crossing the counter at night is usually the visible edge of a colony. Other signs to look for are droppings that look like ground pepper, a musty, oily smell, and empty egg casings in drawers and corners.
It happens in tidy homes too. Cockroaches need food, water and a place to hide, and every kitchen has all three.
WHAT YOU GET
What Our Cockroach Service Includes
Spraying the roaches you can see does little for the ones in the walls. The service goes after the colony.
Hiding Places Found First
Cockroaches are nocturnal and stay out of sight, so we look where they actually live: behind refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers, under sinks, along baseboards and around plumbing lines.
Bait, Traps and Targeted Treatment
A combination of baiting, trapping and targeted insecticide, aimed at the colony rather than the few roaches you happen to see.
A Plan for Your Home
Every treatment plan accounts for the conditions of your home or business, from the kitchen layout to the moisture under the sink.
EPA-Approved Products
We use only EPA-approved products, the same as on every Prime service.
Treatment Where They Breed
Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are where cockroaches settle, because that is where the warmth, water and food are. Treatment is targeted at the places they hide and travel, so it reaches the colony instead of only the roaches out in the open.
GERMAN COCKROACH SERVICE
German Cockroach Service in Four Visits
The German cockroach is the one most often found inside homes. It is small, about half an inch long, light brown, with two dark stripes running down its back.
It also breeds faster than almost anything else in the house. A female carries up to 40 eggs in a single casing, and German cockroaches can produce up to six generations a year. A single treatment cannot reach eggs that have not hatched yet.
That is why our German cockroach service is four visits. Treatment keeps going as new cockroaches hatch, so it reaches every life stage, not only the adults.
WHICH ONE DO YOU HAVE
American or German Cockroach
Four cockroaches are common in the Pacific Northwest: German, American, brown banded and oriental. The first two are the ones most people call about.
- German: about half an inch, light brown with two stripes. Lives indoors and hitches a ride in on bags, boxes and luggage.
- American: well over an inch, reddish brown, and able to fly. Prefers to live outside and in sewers, and comes up through plumbing lines and drains.
You do not need to know which one you have before you call. For the full side by side, read American vs. German cockroaches, our German cockroach removal guide, or About Cockroaches for every species, the life cycle and the health risks.
PUBLISHED PRICING
Every Cockroach Rate, Published
The German cockroach service is listed on our pricing page with its rate, right beside every other service we offer. Most local pest companies publish none.
You should not have to book a visit to learn what a service costs. Look it up first, then book when you are ready.
Once the cockroaches are under control, quarterly pest control keeps the common household pests, cockroaches included, from settling back in.
BETWEEN VISITS
Habits That Help Between Visits
Treatment does the heavy lifting. These four habits make your home a harder place for cockroaches to come back to.
Airtight Food Storage
Keep food in airtight containers, pet food included, and empty pet bowls at night.
Leaks and Drips Fixed
Fix leaks and drips under sinks and around pipes. Moisture draws cockroaches as much as food does.
Gaps and Cracks Sealed
Seal cracks in walls, floors and baseboards, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, where a half inch gap is plenty.
Covered Trash
Use bins with tight lids, inside and out, and do not leave dirty dishes out overnight.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Common Questions About Cockroach Control
Can a Clean Home Get Cockroaches?
Yes. A cockroach problem is possible in a well kept, tidy home. German cockroaches catch rides in on grocery bags, packaging and luggage, so a clean kitchen alone does not keep them out.
Why Is German Cockroach Service Four Visits?
German cockroaches breed fast. A female can carry up to 40 eggs at a time, and they can produce up to six generations a year, so one visit cannot reach eggs that have not hatched yet. Four services are required for the treatment to be effective. The rate is on the pricing page.
Can I Get Rid of Cockroaches Myself?
Traps and bait help in small areas, and keeping food, water and gaps closed off makes a real difference. Cockroaches are resilient, though, and store bought sprays only reach the ones you see. Once they are breeding indoors, professional treatment is the better option.
Are Cockroaches a Health Concern?
They can be. Cockroaches can carry bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli onto food and counters, and cockroach allergy can trigger asthma attacks.
What Does Prime Not Treat?
We do not treat moles, gophers, voles, termites or bed bugs. Everything else we handle is on our services page.
Ahead of the Next Generation
Cockroaches do not leave on their own, and German cockroaches can run through up to six generations a year. Book a visit, or call and we will walk you through the service.
