BEAVERTON, OREGON, SEPTEMBER 2026
Three Tripped Traps and No Rats
Three traps had gone off in this Beaverton crawlspace with nothing in any of them, so our tech went in to figure out where the rats were traveling, where they were spending their time, and how they were getting into the house.
The way in turned out to be a hole in the wall made for a pipe, with no pipe in it. Traps are only part of the job if the way in is still open.
What Our Tech Says in the Video
There was just a hole in the wall that was meant for a pipe to go through, and there was no pipe. So, perfect little porthole entrance for rats.
I’m looking around, and even from here I can see one, two, three traps that are tripped with nothing in them. These things close fast, and that just goes to show you how quick and how sneaky these little guys are. These are Norway rats that we’re dealing with here.
I picked this spot because you can see that greasy, dirty stuff on top of that covered wire. That is from the rats running back and forth along it. Right here, the droppings and where the insulation is packed down tell me that rats like to sit and hang out here, probably because this is where the HVAC goes through, so that’s a really warm part of the crawl space.
